Mrs. Wayne Ball (Sylvia)   (July 12, 2007)
Please pray for my husband, Wayne E. Ball, Class of '47. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease a little over a year ago, shortly before his twin brother, Wallace B. Ball, passed away. His disease has progressed very rapidly and he can no longer walk on his own. He quite often doesn't know who we are and has vivid hallucinations which keep him from sleeping more than 15 min. at a time. It hurts so much to see the one you love and have been married to for 47 yrs. waste away like this. He quite often seems to be talking to Wally, as though their close bond is calling him home to be with our precious Lord and Savior and all his brothers and the rest of his family. Please pray that his journey through this rough patch in life will ease and he will be able to cope a little better with Gods's help. God Bless all of you.Sylvia Ball

One of my mentors, a great friend of mine and UHSAA, needs your prayers. I just received this note from Wayne Williams who helped build this web site:
"Just a note that I am still here and alive. Last month I suffered a heart attack and had to have a 5 by-pass surgery. Wow, what a thrill that was."
Please join me with your thoughts and prayers for Wayne.

Homer Anderson ('60)   (March 4, 2004)
I have just received an email with an update on Erney Anderson ('60), from his wife, Kay. Her message was as follows: " Speaking of Erney, he is doing really well at the moment. We are so greatful for each day. He is 3 months past the time the urologist and neurosurgeon had given him. The oncologist is just amazed. They all say he's still terminal and the cancer is growing on his lungs. We just pray for one more good day and God in his wisdom is granting it. Old Ern's sense of humor is still in tact even if his memory is sort of slipping. That is one thing the doctor was right on target about. When they took the tumor out of his brain, his memory did start to fade. His past memory is really good. His short term is terrible. But he uses that as an excuse for everything. He's very funny some times." In talking with Erney, he has always been very positive and upbeat, and I had no idea how dire his condition appears to be. Please keep Erney in your prayers.

David Beard   (January 20, 2004)
Gary Heyen, our venerable web master, entered North Austin Medical Center on Sunday with a blood clot in his leg. That's not surprising given the number of hours he sits in front of his computer working on our website. Put him on your prayer list; we're eager to have him back on the job but with more frequent absences from the screen for walking around.

Homer Anderson ('60)   (January 14, 2004)
I talked to Erney and Kay Anderson today. He is still hangin' in there - they both sounded very upbeat still. He went in yesterday for another CT scan, but won't know any results till next Tuesday. He said it is OK to share this info with the UHS group. What they did the CT scan for, was to see if there has been any change in any of the "hot spots" left over from the removal of the primary tumor in his kidney. They had found these numerous isolated areas where the cancer had metastasized(?), but had not started growing in the new areas yet - they are looking to see whether they are still dormant. If they still look the same, they won't need to do anything for now.Erney said that if the spots show any changes, the treatment is to go thru major chemotherapy - and he feels he does not want to go thru that for the potential 2-3% possibility of improving his situation. He feels he will just put his trust in God at that point. Erney said his prayers focus not on himself, but on others he knows that have health and other problems, and on cancer patients in general. I know he would appreciate our prayers for him!

Nathalie C. Patton   (December 5, 2003)
Please remember David Beard in your prayers. David was taken to Seaton Medical Center, Austin, Texas on December 3, 2003. David has been having some Pulmonary problems these past few months.

David Beard   (November 24, 2003)
Please add to your prayer list Sam Raney, class of '57. Sam had had a heart attack and a stroke some years ago. But he was found yesterday, November 23, 2003, on the floor of his home, apparently having sustained another of either of those attacks. He is currently in Sid Peterson hospital at Kerrville. Prognosis is currently not determined.

Barbara Nell Sears Elrod (1962)   (October 26, 2003)
I would ask that you keep my mother, Mrs. O. T. (Fay) Sears in your thoughts and prayers. She is in a nursing home here in Georgetown, Tx and not doing very well. She is experiencing renal failure and all the problems that go with that. She taught 5th grade and has lots of great memories of the years she spent in Uvalde while my father served as UHS principal.

Homer Anderson ('60)   (July 15, 2003)
Please add Erney Anderson ('60) to your prayer list. He is recovering from surgery just yesterday to remove a brain tumor that had also affected the optic nerve of his right eye. He also has a tumor on a kidney, and after his recovery from yesterday's surgery, they will be looking at removing that tumor as well. His wife Kay said that Erney is doing VERY well, and may get to come home as early as this Thursday. He has already been up and walking around. The optic problem has caused serious loss of vision for Erney, so he is not able to use a PC monitor, thus email is unusable. I left a more detailed message on the "News" site, should anyone want to send a note or card. I know your prayers would be welcome.

Carol McClintock Roberts - Class of '59   (July 13, 2003)
Asking for your loving, healing thoughts and prayers for my brother and his family. He will be undergoing extensive and risky surgery in Houston, Texas Wednesday , July 16th. Fluid was 'leaking' into his brain. I guess, due to the amount of injuries, swelling, etc., the Drs. did not detect a hole in his sinuses made at the time of the accident. They are going to use ???part of the inside of the skull??? to repair the hole and install a stint for the drainage. At least this is the way I understand it. He is still in a coma and my sister-in-law is hoping that this has been a cause of his inability to wake up and progress in rehab. He has had several bouts with pneumonia, which have also set him backI will be leaving for Houston Tues. July 15th to lend as much support as I can to his wife and family. They have been wonderful throughout this whole ordeal. Jeanette has been at his side everyday since the accident on Jan.20th....truly an angel. For those of you who do not know, my brother, Gene Haby, 48 years old, was in a motorcycle accident in Jan of this year. He was alone , helmet on, cruising in the beautiful hill country of Texas out of the Kerrville area.We do not know what happened and probably never will. A lady who lived in the area heard the crash, went to him and held him until an ambulance arrived. He was admitted as John Doe to an air force base hospital in San Antonio. That is where he and his family live and that is their hospital. He is a wonderful young man. He is retired military and was currently a parole officer. While in the early days of ICU he actually had parolees visit him. He was admired by several and one even said that Gene had saved his life by caring and taking extra time with him. The nurses said that was a first for them; to see parolees visit their parole officer . A testament to his goodness. Thank you for your thoughts prayers

David Beard 57   (May 19, 2003)
